“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice.” – T.S. Elliot

New Year’s Eve is always a time to sit and reflect on the past year – the good, the bad and the madness! It’s a time to be thankful for making it through it all. A time to hold close the ones you love, set goals for the New Year and commit to being open to whatever is coming next.

2016 has been a wonderful year filled with love, learning and travel. Here’s a look back on my year.

The Wedding: Every day I am thankful for finding a man who loves me unconditionally and supports me in all that I do. Our wedding was my favorite day ever! The joy and love that I felt was something I wish everyone gets to experience at least once in their lives.

The Honeymoon: Florence,  Rome, Naples, Positano, Capri, Santorini and Mykonos and all within 12 days! It was busy trip but so worth it! There is something about travel that awakens the soul; to experience adventure, and live outside your comfort zone pushes you to learn and grow and truly live. I am blessed that I have the opportunity to travel as much as I do. I am grateful that I got to check off Italy and Greece from my bucket list!

Weekend in Jasper: Jasper in the fall was absolutely amazing. As a Canadian, sometimes I take for granted the amazing landscape we have right in our backyards. The weekend in Jasper was a perfect mental escape from the city.  It helped us to reconnect and recharge.

Blog post on my “Travel Jasper” coming soon!

Birthday Weekend in Vancouver:  For my 30 (something) birthday we set off for a weekend of friends and fun in Vancouver. **Fun travel fact: point credit cards do pay off!

It was one of the snowiest weeks in years for Vancouver, but we didn’t let it stop us from spending the weekend as tourists. My favorite adventure was the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.

And.. that’s the highlight reel!

With the start of a new year not only do I reflect on what was, I also set goals for what will be in the year ahead. One of my biggest goals for 2017 is to truly launch Opposite of Kate and wholeheartedly commit to my passions.

I plan on sharing posts on each of my 2016 highlights and creating many, many more … so stay tuned! I hope you will join me on my journey!

Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year and a wonderful 2017!

xoxo
